planes, trains and trams

First of all we took the star ferry across from Kowloon (where we were staying) to Hong Kong island. This ferry was built in the 1950s and is quite an institution.

Then we took the Peak Tram up a VERY steep incline (>60%?) to get to the Peak Sky Tower, with absolutely stunning views over the whole of Hong Kong city. What was particularly unbelievable was the sheer number of skyscrapers! Not only office buildings but also housing - imagine all those people, packed in like sardines...Also impressive were the several levels at which the city was operating: there were cars at street level, pedestrian walkways above the ground connecting several buildings and then of course the REALLY high skyscrapers. Reminded me of the image of the future projected in some science fiction movies...

Then a quick train to the airport. Sitting in airport and have finally time to post some pictures! Now about to board the plane to Sydney (and then Christchurch). See you there!
